Rebellion Through Music

The song “God Save the Queen” (1977) by the Sex Pistols is a strong symbol of the punk movement’s rebellion. The band subverts national and royal symbols, such as the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II and the national anthem, to challenge their authority. The aggressive music breaks away from traditional styles. They use their record sleeve and music, which are both art forms, to reclaim power for themselves. A stark contrast emerges between the respectful anthem and the song’s violent, anti-monarchy, anti-society lyrics.

In groups of 2 : Describe the image, mentioning all important details (people, objects, places, colors, actions).

⇒Blackpool Punk Festival

Vivienne Westwood is a famous British fashion designer. Her creations helped shape the look of the punk movement in the 1970s. She was one of the most outspoken fashion designers in the world.

It's all about taking risks...

Punks are known for rejecting social norms and expressing themselves freely. Furthermore, they are often seen as outsiders or as part of a counterculture because they behave differently. Punk culture is also based on the DIY (Do It Yourself) spirit. People are making their own clothes and customising them. They wear unusual items such hair accessories made from chicken bones, and they experiment with their style by taking risks. Former punks keep their rebellious spirit and still consider themselves as outsiders.

Présent BE+V-ING

Présent BE+V-ING

He is wearing a leather jacket ↓ Temps présent + aspect BE+V-ING →l'événement "il porte une veste en cuir" a déjà démarré.

Présent BE+V-ING

Présent BE+V-ING

They are singing "God save the Queen"! -un événement déjà prévu: They are performing at the punk music festival next weekend. He is always wearing in black! I hate that!

Customizing clothes is fun! She is good at singing ↓ ↓ sujet du verbe BE complément de la préposition "at"
