Introduction

Mental health has different problems, such as stress, depression, substance abuse, and self-harming behaviour. For this presentation, I chose to focus on substance abuse and self-harming behaviour.

Substance Abuse

Substance abuse is when someone uses harmful substances such as alcohol, drugs, or medications in an unhealthy way.

Some people start using these substances to escape stress, emotional pain, or personal problems. However, this behaviour can become dangerous and lead to addiction.

Self-Harming Behaviour

Self-harming behaviour means intentionally hurting yourself. Some people cut, burn, or hurt their bodies to deal with emotional pain. Many people do this because they don't know how to deal with their feelings. That behaviour leads to physical, emotional and social consequences.

Prevention and support

Prevention and support are essential. By providing help early, we can reduce the risks of self-harm and substance abuse, and improve people’s mental health and wellbeing.
