overview of the club
The Aspiring Lawyers Association (ALA) is a club founded by junior Madison Maguregui. According to Maguregui, the purpose of the Aspiring Lawyers Association can be explained in three words: exposure, ambition, and opportunity. With opportunities like meeting real lawyers, internships, field trips, and more, the club helps students be ahead of their game in their future career in law. Overall, the ALA is meant to help foster an environment of growth and learning about different areas of law as one of few clubs meant to support aspriring lawers at the school.

"How much does a corporate lawyer make in a year?"
While giving a rough number for income, according to Smith, first year associates will make around $225,000 in a year. In what she's seen for reference, someone who's been in the business for 9 years could make around $500,000 a year. For partners in a big firm like Smith, they will usually make around $600,000-700,000 a year, but it all varies depending on the companies and clients being represented that year, altering overall income.
"What does the commitment in being a lawyer look like?"
Based on her experience, according to Smith, because of the fact that the companies the firm represents usually want answers quickly with well-rounded representation, one needs to give them the best work theycan provide given how much they are paying. As a give and take, Smith said that since the client is paying so high, their expectations in the result they'll recieve, requirin that bar to be met.
"Where did you get your education to get you to where you are today?"
When in high school, Smith participated in mock trial, getting her started in the path of law. After graduation, she attended Ohio State University where she receivedher undergraduate degree, then went to the University of Texas at Austin and received her master's degree in accounting. Once in the economic field, Smith attended law school to combine her knowledge in numbers with the field of law.
"How many years have you been working in the field of law?"
Not including her participation in mock trial in high school where she would act as a lawyer, Smith has worked in the field of law for almost 20 years and counting.
