Femoral Nerve (L4-L6)

Function

  • Motor: Extension of the stifle, Flexion of the hip.
  • Muscles: Quadriceps femoris group.
  • Neuro Exam: Mediates the Patellar reflex (L4-L6 arc).
  • Medial aspect of the thigh, crus, and metatarsus (Saphenous nerve).
Clinical signs
  • Gait: Inability to bear weight; the limb collapses at the stifle.
  • Neuro Exam: Absent/decreased Patellar reflex; loss of sensation on the medial crus/paw, Rapid neurogenic atrophy of the quadriceps.
