The Cool Kids are the kids everyone knows and likes. Nerds are the smart kids who spend a lot of their time studying and participating in clubs like The National Honors Society, The Emo Kids dress in black (including their makeup) and have an "I don't care" attitude. Those who spend all their time in the drama room and try out for every play/musical are a Theater Kids. Those who don't really have a group they belong to are considered Loners.

At Merryweather High, there are several cliques (or clans). They have the stereotypical Jocks. Country Clubbers are the rich kids in the school. Cheerleaders could be considered the popular kids. Human Waste are those who would be considered loners. Big Hair Chix spend a lot of time on their appearance (big hair was a thing in the 90s). The Marthas were the school's volunteers and one of the groups the main character dealt with. The Thespians are the drama kids. Goths are the kids into all things black and spooky. Shedders would be the skateboarders. Eurotrash were the foreign exchange students and the Americans who were friends with them.
