Os egípcios, gregos e romanos já utilizavam a cortiça para vedar recipientes

No séc XVII, um monge Francês, Dom Pérignon, utiliza, pela primeira vez, rlhas de cortiça para selar as garrafas de vinho espumante, na região de Champagne.

A rolha de cortiça é um dos produtos mais discretos. Parece apenas um simples cilindro que fecha uma garrafa. Na realidade, guarda histórias e protege sabores. Representa séculos de tradição, inovação e respeito pela natureza.

A primeira casca do sobreiro não pode ser utilizada para fazer rolhas.

A cortiça é a casca do sobreiro. Os sobreiros não precisam de ser abatidos para produzir cortiça. A casca é retirada de 9 em 9 anos (o que premite a regeneração da árvore). O conjunto de sobreiros forma o "montado".
