This resource was created by Jennifer LaGarde
For generations, the Kingdom of Discourse thrived on wisdom and debate. But now it is under siege. From deep within the Dungeon of Distorted Reason, a monstrous dragon spreads confusion across the land. Its flames are made of viral memes. Its wings beat with outrage. It feeds on emotional exploitation and grows stronger every time someone engages before thinking. Long ago, the philosopher Aristotle forged a legendary blade known as Logos. This weapon can cut through deception, but only if it is powered by four Gems:
The Gem of Evidence The Gem of Context The Gem of Logic The Gem of Perspective

Thank goodness you’ve come. We need your help! To defeat the dragon that is terrorizing, manipulating, and dividing our people, you must first gather the four gems. Without them, you don't stand a chance!
Help us, only a person like you can do it!
No thank you, I’ll pass
Of course!
Help us, brave hero. You’re our only hope.
Just kidding! I'm definitely the hero you are looking for!
I knew you would not fail us! Thanks a lot! Here is Aristotle's famous sword, Logos. Now gather the Gems to complete it and defeat the dragon.

Where do you think you’re going, mortal?! You won’t be worthy of the Evidence Gem until you get all my questions correct. Do you dare to try?
A Straw Man fallacy happens when someone accurately summarizes their opponent’s argument and then responds to it directly.
False
True
DRAT! You are correct! A Straw Man distorts or oversimplifies someone’s position, then attacks that weaker version instead of the real argument.
A False Dilemma fallacy occurs when someone presents only two options in a situation where more possibilities actually exist.
False
True
CURSES! You are smarter than I thought! The False Dilemma fallacy creates an either/or choice when the issue is more complex.
A Hasty Generalization happens when someone draws a broad conclusion based on a small or unrepresentative sample.
False
True
FIDDLE STICKS! I underestimated you! The Hasty Generalization jumps from limited evidence to a sweeping claim.
An Ad Hominem fallacy occurs when someone attacks the person making an argument instead of addressing the argument itself.
False
True
BALDERDASH! You have bested me! The Ad Hominem fallacy shifts the focus from ideas to personal traits, character, or identity.
Post Hoc Ergo Propter Hoc is when two events happen one after another and that proves they are connected.
True
False
FOILED! You have outwitted me! The Post Hoc Ergo Propter Hoc fallacy confuses sequence with causation. Just because B follows A does not mean A caused B.
Congratulations!! Here is your reward, you have earned the Evidence Gem... You may have bested me, but this is just the beginning of your quest!
Hahahaha, you are no match for me!

Which of these memes contains an example of the Ad Hominem fallacy?
MEOWCH!! You got that one right! Memes that use personal attacks, instead of focusing on the issue, are employing the Ad Hominem fallacy.
Which of these memes contains an example of the False Dilemma fallacy?
MEOWCH!! You got that one right! Memes that over simplify complex ideas or problems often include the False Dilemma fallacy.
Which of these memes contains an example of the Straw Man fallacy?
MEOWCH!! You got that one right! Memes that shift the focus from one argument to another (often weaker) point might contain the Straw Man fallacy.
Which of these memes contains an example of the Hasty Generalization fallacy?
MEOWCH!! You got that one right! Memes that use one experience or small sample to make a sweeping claim may contain the Hasty Generalization fallacy.
Which of these memes contains an example of the Post Hoc Ergo Propter Hoc fallacy?
MEOWCH!! You got that one right! Memes that assume one event caused another simply because it happened first might contain the Post Hoc Ergo Propter Hoc fallacy.
Nice try, mortal! But you are no match for us!
Try Again
CONGRATULATIONS!
You have earned the Gem of Context. But your journey is far from over!

You have uncovered a Hasty Generalization. The player lost one match and declared the entire game rigged. That leap from one experience to a sweeping conclusion is the fallacy. Strong reasoning looks for patterns, not isolated moments.

Straw Man exposed. The request was simple: avoid assigning homework on game nights. Instead of responding to that idea, the argument was exaggerated into favoritism toward athletes. When a claim is misrepresented, the real issue disappears.
And now look for the gem! Hurry up!
Well done. You’ve earned the Gem of Logic. Impressive. Annoying, but impressive. Still, one bright idea will not defeat me. More trials lie ahead.
