Virginia redistrcits after the 2020 census

Every 10 years after the cenus, Virginia along with other states, redraw their congressional districts to better represent the population.

Democratic wins in the 2025 elections

The democrats had sweeping victories, winning the gubernatorial election and gaining 13 new delegate seats in the house.

A Judge's Ruling

Following a lawsuit led by Republican leadership in the House, circuit court judge Jack Hurley Jr. ruled that the joint resolution’s introduction was inconsistent with state law, temporarily blocking its passage. This was later overturned.

Redistricting vote

The voters are set to vote on this issue on April 21 with early voting starting on March 6.

National midterm elections

These redistricting efforts by Virginia and other states, such as Texas and California, are all to secure a majority on Congress on Nov. 3.
