Narcissus falls in love with his own reflection. This painting is a parody of society nowadays: the water where Narcissus usually sees his reflection is represented by a giant phone which can be seen as narcissism on social media.
The second document is a screenshot of Jaden’s profile page full of pictures of himself, often shirtless. We can make a connection between the two documents : Jaden is obsessed with his body like Narcissus, they are both self-centered.
The downside of posting photos and videos is that it can influence teens and unconsciously push them to compare themselves to what they see on social media. This creates several risks, both mentally and physically, with devaluation or overtraining for example.

Filters : the creation of unrealistic beauty standards
In the picture, we can see that the man used a filter to emphasize his muscles.
Influencers use filters to have more views on social media and to show the best image of themselves. But these pictures are fake because their bodies are embellished by filters.
It makes people envy their bodies. As a result, people train to look the same which leads to overtraining and disorders.
In conclusion, modifying your body with filters and editing applications can have negative effects on young people. It creates unrealistic beauty standards. Nobody is perfect, accepting ourselves is more important than trying to look like an edited picture.

Facetune : the toxicity of comparison
Facetune Is Poisonous for Our Self-Image
“Almost all of us have retouched our photos at least once. I’m definitely
guilty — I’ve edited my fair share of pimples out of my photos. But apps like Facetune — often used to heavily edit waistlines and facial features — become poisonous to our body image when our online selves start to differ from the faces and bodies we have in real life. Facetuning feels great at first. I can give myself a free nose job. I can cut off four inches from my waist without going to the gym. I have always had big cheeks, and I can slim down my face in under 30 seconds. I can see why people use and love the app, but the longer I spend editing my cheeks to be slimmer, the bigger they look to me in the mirror, and the more I dislike how I look in my untouched photos. However, people compare themselves to influencers and want to have the same dream body or dream face-card, without knowing that it is not the reality. This reflects the lies on social networks, which can negatively impact the morale of young people.
Teenagers, especially, may become embarrassed about their bodies and develop insecurities because they don’t want to be different from others. This pressure may also provoke anxiety and stress.
In the end, the risks are to get used to retouching their bodies and their faces. They may develop dysmorphia and eating disorders.
I trained like a Victoria's Secret model for 5 weeks
1. What is the type of document ? What is it about ? It is a vlog about how to become a model.
The influencer trains during 5 weeks to look like a Victoria’s Secret model.
a vlog : a video online where someone shares his/her experiences and daily life. 2. Focus on the coach : What does she need to work on to look like a model ?She has to be more symmetrical. She needs elongated muscles to look / appear taller.
3. What is her routine ? She does cardio everyday and weight training six days a week. She has no rest day.
4. What about her diet ? ✓ She is allowed to eat vegetables fruit lean proteins : fish and chicken a shot of apple cider vinegar with water at each meal × She must not eat sugar processed food (=nourriture industrielle) 5. How did she feel ? What does she realise during this experience ? She was crying and she had a panic attack. She was frustrated because she compared herself to other women on the cover of magazines.
6. What did she had to do on top of sports and diet ? She had to wax her whole body and get a spray tan to hide her "imperfections" (stretch marks and scars).

1. Explain what bigorexia is ?Bigorexia is a disorder in which a person becomes obsessed with becoming more muscular. Even if they are already strong or well-built, they believe that they are still too small and are never satisfied with their body.
2. What are the causes ?
One of the main causes is the growing influence of bodybuilding culture through social media. Influencers and body builders post idealized pictures showing “perfect” muscular bodies. This creates unrealistic beauty standards and pushes young people to compare themselves constantly. In the past, bodybuilders were admired but not copied. This can lead to extreme training and strict diets. 3. What are the consequences or symptoms ? The consequences may include compulsively working out. Someone suffering from bigorexia may prioritize working out rather than spending time with friends and family. He /she could feel discouraged.
