Erin’s Diary
Part 1: Explain what the problem is.
Dear diary, I am so upset and unhappy! Last night I could hear the adults shouting downstairs and they are going to attack Black Rock! I tried to explain why they should not hurt him. Why will they not listen to me? I can never unhear the things they said. I must protect him!
Part 2: Give a reason why Black Rock should be saved.
First of all, the fishermen are untruthful about their tales. I have met Black Rock and I know what he is like. All the legends are just made up! Yet everyone is frightened of him. Well I am not! How can I stop them from doing such harm?

Also Black Rock is a home for seagulls and birds near the beaches. I saw bunches of twigs on his jagged rocks. That must mean their nests are up there! What will happen to the baby birds? It is just so unfair! I have to do something! I will let you know my plans. Erin
