"despite" n'est pas suivi de « of » • He didn't pass his exam despite his regular work. = Il n'a pas réussi son examen, malgré son travail régulier. • In spite of what he had promised,(= despite what he had promised) he didn't keep his New Year's resolutions.= Malgré ce qu'il avait promis, il n'a pas tenu ses résolutions de Nouvel An.

La conjonction THOUGH / ALTHOUGH est suivie d'un GROUPE VERBAL soit un sujet + verbe Ex : Paul finished his report, although he was very tired and feeling sleepy. = Paul a terminé son rapport bien qu'il ait été très fatigué et ait eu sommeil.
