What is Workplace Violence?

Workplace violence is defined as:

• the exercise of actual physical force towards a worker that causes injury or is likely to cause injury to a worker;
• includes threatening statements made or conduct that gives a worker reasonable cause to believe they are at risk of injury;
• also includes the threat or attempt to commit violence

Examples are:

• physical attack or aggression
• threatening behaviour
• verbal or written threats
• sexual violence
• domestic violence
