The Archaen Eon
How long did the Archaen Eon Last?
What was the Archaen Eon Like?
The Archaen Eon spanned from 3,800 to 2,500 Ma.
The climate and conditions during this Eon, made it unsurvivable. The supply of Oxygen was short and very limited. Photo-synthesizing Organisms were the only ones who thrived. There was less than 4% of Dry land, mainly made up of Oceans.
More Knowledge about this Time in History
- The event marks History as being known to be one of Earth's largest extinctions
- The build up of O2 in event Oxygen catastrophe led to new DNA oxidized bases.-"Origins of DNA Repair"
- Forms of life survived the Glaciation, and as a result a more hospitable and survivable planet emerged, with Water and Oxygen vast in supply
- If it weren't for Plants and Photosynthesis being the main life form, taking up 90% of the biosphere we would not have energy.-"How plants Changed Earth's History".
The Major Event: The Oxygen Catastrophe
Oxygen levels rising led to life and balance of power of living Organsisms drastically shifting; Anaerobic Organisms started to die off due to poisoning of Oxygen and its reacting with the Methane in the air, took it out of circulation. CO2 (green house gas) in the air decreased due to Photosynthetic organisms using it up, triggering a Global Glaciation.
