ABOUT THE PROJECT
Friendship Beyond Borders is an international eTwinning project bringing together students aged 11–14 from different European countries. The project aims to promote intercultural dialogue, friendship, and collaborative learning through meaningful digital activities. Throughout the project, students engaged in creative and cooperative tasks to improve their English communication skills, digital literacy, and cultural awareness. Using tools such as Padlet, Canva, Digipad, and interactive platforms, they collaborated across borders and developed a strong sense of European citizenship. The project was implemented through continuous teacher coordination, regular online meetings, and active student participation, ensuring a structured and impactful learning journey.

The project brought together partner schools from seven countries, fostering intercultural dialogue and collaborative learning. Each school contributed actively to the planning, implementation, and evaluation stages of the project.

Project Logo Selection
In October, students collaboratively designed project logos and participated in a voting process. This activity encouraged creativity democratic decision-making and active student involvement. The selected logo became the official visual identity of our project.

Penpal Letter Exchange
As part of our first international interaction, students exchanged penpal letters with their peers from different countries. Through this activity, they introduced themselves shared their interests and learned about different cultures in an authentic communication context.

In November, students explored cultural elements of partner countries through collaborative poster design activities. They researched traditions, food, symbol and daily life and presented their findings using digital tools.
This activity strengthened intercultural awareness, research skills and digital collaboration among partner schools.

Intercultural Postcard Exchange
Christmas & New Year Wishes Across Borders
In December, students collaboratively designed Christmas and New Year postcards and exchanged them with partner schools. Through this activity, they expressed their wishes shared cultural traditions and strengthened international friendship.
This exchange provided students with authentic writing practice and enhanced intercultural understanding.
JANUARY
Collaborative Multilingual WordArt
Skills Developed: -Multilingual Awareness -Vocabulary Enrichment -Digital Creativity -Collaborative Contribution
In January, students collaboratively created a multilingual WordArt focusing on the theme of friendship. Each partner country contributed key words their own language, representing shared values such as respect, empathy, loyalty and trust.
This activty highlighted linguistic diversity while emphasizing common human values across cultures.
FEBRUARY
Digital Magazine

In February partner schools collaboratively finalized and published the digital magazine "Voices Beyond Borders". The final product represents the collective effort, creativity and intercultural collaboration developed throughout the project.

International Coordination Sections
Throughout the project, partner teachers held regular online meetings to coordinate activities, share progress and make collaborative decisions. In addition, international student meetings were organized to foster direct interaction and intercultural communication.

- Students introduced themselves through digital tools by sharing short presentations, posters or videos. This first interaction helped them feel part of an international learning community.
- The activity promoted confidence, communication skills and digital literacy.
- At the beginning of the project, partner teachers introduced themselves, their schools and their educational contexts. This initial meeting established a collaborative working environment and ensured clear communication among all partners.
All posts were shared in accordance with e-safety guidelines and under teacher supervision.
Safer Internet Day – Promoting Responsible Digital Participation
As part of our commitment to digital safety, volunteer partner schools participated in Safer Internet Day activities. Students discussed responsible online behavior, privacy awareness and respectful digital communication. This initiative supported the safe and ethical use of digital tools throughout the project.

Conclusion – Beyond Borders, Beyond Classrooms
Throughout this project, students and teachers collaboratively engaged in meaningful intercultural activities that promoted communication, creativity and digital competence. From introductions and cultural exchanges to collaborative quizzes, multilingual WordArt and the final digital magazine, each phase strengthened international cooperation and student-centered learning.
The project contributed to the development of 21st-century competences, including digital literacy, intercultural communication and collaborative problem-solving.
The project not only enhanced students’ language skills but also fostered empathy, respect and shared European values. By working together across borders, participants experienced how digital tools can create authentic and lasting connections “Friendship Beyond Borders” demonstrated that learning becomes more powerful when collaboration transcends geographical and cultural boundaries.
When students collaborate beyond borders, learning becomes a bridge between cultures.
