At the end of Olympic competition, figure skaters gather one last time for a festive event known as the Figure Skating Exhibition Gala. Skaters of all the different events come together and showcase a program of artistic freedom, free of competitive pressure. This year's gala included many unforgettable performances, such as Alysa Liu's program to "Stateside" by PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson and men's singles champion Mikhail Shaidorov's Kung Fu Panda-themed program.
Two-time world champion (2024-2025) and national champion (2023-2026) Ilia Malinin delivered a 200-point score to break the figure skating Team Event tie with Japan. Known as the "Quad God," he landed five quadruple jumps (four full revolutions in the air) and an anticipated backflip to secure Team USA's second consecutive gold in the event.
Seventeen year old Choi Ga-on became the youngest Olympic gold medalist in snowboarding, representing South Korea. She won gold in the halfpipe event over her mentor and American snowboarder Chloe Kim, who finished in second place. Choi Ga-on was also the youngest gold medalist for the X Games — an annual sports competion for skateboarding, skiing, snowboarding and BMX biking.

Biathlon is a mix between cross-country skiing and rifle shooting, as after each lap around the track, athletes undergo a shooting test in either a standing or prone (laying down) position. The number of shots and penalty for missing a shot (either a penalty loop or a minute added to overall time) changes depending on the event. In addition to the events shown, there is a men's and women's Mixed Relay 4x6km.
Figure Skating Gold Medal Spotlight:
- Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron (FRA)-Ice dance

- Miura Riku and Kihara Ryuichi (JPN)- Pairs
- Alysa Liu (USA)- Women's
Gathering no more than 30 of the world's "best" athletes in each of the sport's four disciplines, figure skaters compete for technical and artistic elements over two separate choreographed programs on ice. The four disciplines are: -Ice dance: A male and female skater dance together to tell stories through art using twizzles (spins), lifts and other elements in Rhythm and Free dances. -Pairs: A partnered male and female incorporate throws and traditional skating jumps in their short program and free skate while skating side-by-side in sync. The third and fourth disciplines are the men's and women's event, in which they each do a short program and longer free skate. The highest score after adding the two program scores together wins the respective event.
Speed Skating
American Jordan Stolz won gold by setting the Olympic record for the men's 500-meter. Jorrit Bergsma of the Netherlands became the oldest speedskating gold medalist at 40 years old, winning the men's mass start. Of the Netherland's 20 medals, 13 came from speed skating.
Speed skating, where athletes race around an oval track in speeds over 30 miles per hour, is broken down into two categories: short track and speed skating (long track). In long track, there are only two competitors who race to finish between 500 to ten thousand meters depending on the event. Men's and women's speed skating events also include mass start, 16-24 competitors racing to finish 16 laps and a team pursuit-two teams of three athletes racing to finish six laps (women) or eight laps (men).

A luge is a small sled used for racing down icy tracks, in which athletes reach speeds up to 90 miles per hour. Athletes steer the luge by using shoulders and calf pressure, laid feet-first on the back of the luge. The luge events consisted of men's and women's singles, doubles and a team relay, in which Germany dominated by securing five medals (three gold, one silver and one bronze). Host nation Italy had a historic gold-medal sweep in men's and women's doubles, winning the first Luge gold medals since 1994.
Hockey
Gathering over 20 million live viewers for the men's gold medal game, the USA had a historic win over Canada 2-1 in overtime for both the men and women. For the men, this was the first time that National Hockey League players helped secure the gold medal, which was last won in 1980. The women secured their eighth consecutive spot on the Olympic podium with their gold. This made Hilary Knight, who scored the game-tying goal in the final two minutes of her last Olympic game, the most decorated American female hockey player of all time.
Skeleton
Skeleton is a high-speed sliding sport where atheltes lay on a sled headfirst, reaching speeds over 80 miles per hour. Core strength, shoulders, knees and toes are used for subtle turning, as there are no brakes or steering wheels. Races start with a 30-meter sprint before a launch on the sled, and the fastest combined time out of four runs determines the winners. In addition to men's and women's, mixed team skeleton made its Olympic debut this year, where Great Britain's Tabitha Stoecker and Matt Weston won gold.

Curling
Curling consists of games between women's, men's or Mixed Doubles, where each team takes turns curling the stone with brooms. This guides the stone to either approach the target's center (the house) or knock out the opposing team's stones. Points are awarded based on how close a stone is to the center, and a single game consists of 10 turns, or ends.
Gold Medal Spotlight:
- Men's: Canada beats Great Britain (9-6)
- Women's: Sweden beats Switzerland (6-5)
- Mixed Doubles: Sweden defeats the USA (6-5)
Did you know?
In a Round-Robin session between men's teams of Canada and Sweden, Canada's Marc Kennedy was allegedly "accused" of pushing the curling stone with his finger, prompting cheating accusations from the opposing team. Despite the replay footage, judges overruled the violation and Canada advanced to win the gold medal.
