Art Critique
An art critique is a detailed analysis and assessment of artwork or body of work. Art criticism in high school serves the purpose of educating you on art appreciation and the evaluation of works of art based on aesthetics. Aesthetics are the principles of beauty in an artwork, or what makes it look good. Have you ever participated in an art critique?
The first step when preparing to write an art critique is the careful observation and analysis of an artwork
When writing an art critique you will answer the four questions below.
What media did the artist use to create the artwork?
What elements of art are visible (lines, shapes, form, texture, etc.)? What is one thing you like about the artwork? What is one thing you would change about the artwork?
