Hello introductory speech! Today you will explore the seven elements of nonverbal communication, or what we say without actually saying it! Learning about these elements will make sure you are successful in presenting yourself in the way you want to be presented.
W.A.L.T.: Identify seven elements of nonverbal communication and how they should be used in a speech. W.I.L.F.: I can demonstrate control over the seven elements of nonverbal communication in a practice activity. Directions: On the following page, there will be eight hotspots for you to interact with. To interact with the hotspot, click on each of the elements and look through/interact with the resources. Take notes on what each of the seven elements are and a short definition/description as you learn about them. Save the green question make icon for last! After everyone is done, we will come together as a class and practice! Missouri English-Language Arts Grade-Level Expectations: Speaking and Listening: 9-10

Kinesics
Kinesics refers to the study of body movements, gestures, and facial expressions as a form of nonverbal communication. It encompasses how these physical cues can convey emotions, intentions, and messages, playing a significant role in interpersonal interactions and cultural exchanges. (Fiveable, 2025)
