Energy is the capacity of a physical system to perform work or produce changes such as motion, heat, or light. In science, energy cannot be created or destroyed; it can only be transformed from one form to another. Main types of energy:

• Kinetic energy: energy due to motion.
• Potential energy: stored energy related to position or condition.
• Thermal energy: energy associated with heat and particle movement.
• Electrical energy: energy caused by moving electric charges.
• Chemical energy: energy stored in chemical bonds.
• Light (radiant) energy: energy carried by electromagnetic waves.
• Sound energy: energy transmitted through vibrations.
• Nuclear energy: energy contained in the nucleus of atoms.

Great distinctions

• In 1896 it participated in the Athens’ Olympic Games ( it was the first edition of the modern olympic games)
• It has appeared on television and on the radio
• It went to several event in other countries (France, Italy, Luxembourg, Austria)
• For the 150th anniversary of its founding, it held a concert at the “PALLAS” Theater in Athens
