Debatably Magic Rocks

Lyra is certain these are the remnants of a stone circle. You are entitled to your own opinion.

The Mountain's Anus

An alpine river empties into a massive, black-bottomed pit at the base to the mountain. Lyra has taken to calling it the Mountain's Anus. Things (and people) the Howff don't like get thrown in the Anus.

Evergreen Pond

Formed by a natural spring, this cute little pond makes a great picnic spot!

Big Tree Island

Strong swimmers can enjoy respite and good fishing on the lake's large island, centerpieced by a massive old oak. Under the oaks roots is a mossy den that's both cozy and romantic. If you like grass-stains. (Concept Art Credit: www.adambrockbank.com/)

Raspberry Patch

Off the main game trails is a massive patch of raspberries simply begging to be feasted upon. It makes a thorny and delicious shelter for animals small enough to weasel into the thicket. Unfortunately, sometimes it also attracts bears.

Waterfall

Cutting through the mountains, one river in particular makes a jagged path, forming a multitude of scenic, but deadly, waterfalls.

Hill Coast

Mountain cliffs eventually give way to rolling, rocky hills and create a picturesque coast.

Deciduous Deep

Many of these trees are ancient, and have grown into warped shapes that give the forest an enchanted feel. The hunting isn't great, but there's plenty of places to hide and climb which make it both an entertaining (if dangerous) playground and a good place to stay out of sight if you're lying low. The densest, most humid stretch of forest in Verdigris, if there ARE mythical beasts running about in their original forms... it's probably in here.

Woodmeadow Hollow

The forest thins to a graveyard of flowering meadows, covered in the bones of old oaks. Small stretches of flowering hills and dells make good grazing for deer and rabbit... and good hunting for wolves.

Mouldy Dock

A dilapidated old pier and fishing hut sink into the sand, slowly being swallowed by dunegrass and sea.

Rotting Bench

Who put this here

Fairy Grove

Strangely arranged trees speak of supernatural cultivation. Often covered in mist wafting in from the lake, there's something eerie and haunting about this place that makes you feel like you're being watched...

Bridges

A handful of collapsing bridges covered in vines and duff offer river crossings and overlook scenic ponds.

Streams & Ponds

The territory is littered all over with picturesque streams, shallow rivers, and overgrown ponds, especially in the West and South.

Rootdrink

Where the forest thins into meadows, several live oak trees sit vigil over a discreet, shallow spring. There is a burrow nearby that could easily be made into a whelping den.

Conifer Cliffs

Where the mountain meets the sea, sheer drop-offs and steep summits make for treacherous crossings. Be wary of rockslides and avalanches.

Wolf Woods

Near the center of the territory, deciduous woods become more prevalent. Ideal for hunting and foraging, it also has no equal in autmn.

Salmon Run

Salmon storm the beach in autumn, rushing to the mountains to spawn. It's a great time to be a fisher-wolf. Lyra loves it. So do bears. Lyra could do without the bears.

Flooded Moss

During the spring melt, this mossy, sparse woodland floods into a verdant freshwater paradise.

Big Tree Stump

A massive Sequoia stump covered in moss and new sprouts sits by the stream. Years of erosion have left massive roots exposed which stretch like fingers into the undergrowth. Shallow water flows over pebbled earth underneath. Lyra believes it Faewild in nature and is afraid of it. (Concept Art Credit: Bungie)

Mountain Forest

Steeper and rockier than most of the evergreen woods in Verdigris, this woodland houses exotic prey like mountain goat and takin. It's also quite scenic, and dotted all over with caves and burrows.

Yawning Cave

A massive cave near the foothills with several entry points. It'll get you out of the wind, but is prone to collecting water when it rains.

(Possibly) Fae Ruins

Dilapidated stone ruins, almost entirely consumed by the forest and covered in vines. Offerings to the Fae Realm can be left here.

Stage Rock

A spindly eroded cave with a burrow underneath and a platform above, perfect for putting on a show or giving an impressive speech!

Young Forest

Small patches of younger forest are rare but to intersperse the territory. These woods are dense with new life competing for growing space.

Old Growth Conifer

Much of Verdigris Row is covered in towering evergreens. The ground beneath is a blanket of moss, ferns, fallen logs, and blossoms. There is often a fog. Some areas have been cleared by wildfire, leaving only the oldest trees as the undergrowth rushes to recover lost ground.

Ominous Tree

Lyra doesn't like it.

Mossdrops

Moss reaches out beyond the forest's edge, soaking in the river's floodplane and creating a magical looking rendezvous

Dirt Beach

Lyra's favourite fishing spot

Natural Spring

A natural spring ringed in mossy stone provides easy access to freshwater near the Howff.

Dancing Tree

A long-dead cherry surrounded by young pines. Sometimes a fairy ring grows around it.

Sludge

Mmm tasty Deeper than it looks (As Mal discovered.)

Druid's Path

On the trail between Camhanaich and Highwayman Howff, where the forest first starts to thin into fields, the trail cuts through a great mossy tree far taller than most of the others in the area. Several wolves can walk through it shoulder to shoulder. Lyra believes it is a gateway to the Fae Realm, and will always go through the brambles on either side of it instead.

River Border

A fast moving, deeper river flows into the lake near the edge of the territory, used as a natural border marker. Concept Art Credit: Ubisoft

Mountain Pass

A narrow rocky trail up into the mountains. It's marginally safer than offroading your way up and contending with rockslides or avalanches. Marginally. Much of the path is in poor repair, and especially during rain (always, basically), it's easy to slip to an untimely end, or have the ground wash out beneath you.

Standing Stones

A crumbling stone gateway sits on the forest's edge. Out of its center, a young (but still massive) sequoia tree grows, further disrupting the once carefully arranged stone.

Roads to the Howff

Mostly built on game trails, the Howff maintains several well-worn paths through the territory, all of which lead to the Inn. Intersections have markers made of fish bones and smooth rocks, set up to help traders and travellers find their way to the inn. Some sections of trail have mossy stones of unusual shapes scattered along them - as if a proper path was used here, a long time ago...

Spores

A spore-infected body of Will-o'-Wisp lies buried here, gravestone'd by a corpse of Sarge hanging impaled from a nearby tree, slowly decaying. The parasite that corrupted Wisp can be supressed with Blue Turtlehead flowers... but it's still inadvisable to tread here unless you're really into having brain worms that turn you into a slobbering zombie for some reason.
