The School Uniform Debate

My name is Leo, and I am 12 years old. I go to a big school in London. In my school, all students must wear a uniform. Every morning, I put on a crisp white shirt and a blue tie. I wear dark grey trousers and a navy blue sweater with the school logo on it. My shoes must be black and shiny. In the summer, the girls can wear blue and white dresses, but the boys wear the same trousers with a short-sleeved shirt. I have mixed feelings about my uniform. On one hand, it is very easy to get ready in the morning because I don't have to choose my clothes. Everyone looks the same, so there is no competition about who has the most expensive trainers or the coolest hoodie. On the other hand, the tie is sometimes too tight and uncomfortable. I also think the sweater is a bit itchy in the spring. I love wearing my colorful t-shirts and baggy jeans at the weekend because they show my personality. My friend Sarah thinks uniforms are boring. She says, "I want to wear my favorite yellow cap to school, but it’s against the rules!" Next Friday is "Non-Uniform Day." We each bring one pound for charity and wear our own clothes. It is my favorite day of the term!
