Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie
(Similarities)
-Both authors created characters that became more famous than themselves. They both felt "tired" of their detectives. Doyle thought Sherlock Holmes was too popular, and Christie often said that Poirot was annoying. -Both writers wrote a story where their main character dies. Doyle "killed" Holmes in a story (The final problem) in 1893. Christie wrote a book called Curtain in the 1940s where Poirot dies, but she kept it in a bank for 30 years before publishing it. - They are both the most important "Quenn" (Agatha Christie) and "King" (Arthur Conan Doyle) of British crime literature. Their books are translated into every language in the world.

Sherlock Holmes and Hercule Poirot
(Differences)
-The method of investigation: Sherlock Holmes is a "detective of action" beacuse he goes on the floor to look for footprints or cigarette ash. Instead, Hercule Poirot is a "detective of mind", so, he prefers to sit in a chair and use his brain to understand the psychology of the people. -Nationality and language: Holmes is a typical english gentleman, but, Poirot is belgian and he often uses french words when he speaks. -Social life and vanity: Poirot is very vain and proud. He always wants to look perfect, with his "perfect moustache" and expensive clothes. He loves luxury, instead , Holmes is often messy and he doesen't care about his appearance. He lives in a house full of papers and chemical bottles.
