One warm morning a leopard named Leo woke up in his favourite forest. The air was fresh, and birds were singing in the tall green trees. Butterflies were flying near the river, and everything felt calm and peaceful. Leo stretched and smiled. “There will be a beautiful day today,” he thought. But suddenly he heard a loud noise. Big yellow trucks were coming down the road. The ground began to shake.

“There will be machines here,” Leo said quietly. “They will cut down the forest.” Soon the other animals ran to him. The Monkey was shaking. “There won’t be any trees if they start working!” he cried. The Deer looked around nervously. “There won’t be a home for us. Where will we live?” Leo jumped onto a large rock so everyone could see him. “Listen,” he said calmly. “They will destroy the forest if we do nothing. But there will be another way. I have a plan.”

The Elephant asked, “What will we do?” “There will be a big surprise for them,” Leo replied with a confident smile. “Tonight we will make the forest look wild and dangerous. There will be loud noises, moving shadows, and blocked roads.” When it became dark, the animals started to make their plan. The Birds will fly low and make strange cries. The Monkeys will shake the highest branches. The Elephant will push heavy logs across the road.

There will be large footprints near the machines. The Wolves will howl from far away. “There won’t be any silence in this forest,” whispered the Owl. In the morning the workers returned. Suddenly there was a loud roar. Branches fell. Shadows moved between the trees. “There will be wild animals everywhere!” one worker shouted. “There won’t be a safe place to work!” said another. The machines stopped. The workers quickly left the forest.

When everything became quiet again, the Monkey laughed happily. “There will be trees for many years now!” Leo looked at his friends and said proudly, “As long as we stay together, there will always be a home for us.” And from that day on, there won’t be any machines in their forest again.
