It aims to employ a strong communication system to ensure stakeholder ownership and international support.

ASEAN Guidelines

The Policy Guidelines on Agroecology Transitions were established to support ASEAN countries in their transition to agroecology. They aim at guiding transition “to an agriculture that is highly productive, economically viable, environmentally sound and which is based on the principles of equity and social justice” and point to agroecology as a “viable transformative approach in the context of a paradigm shift. t. They were adopted in 2024.

The National Plan for Agroecology and Organic Production (PLANAPO) (2024) marks a pivotal commitment to sustainable agriculture, sovereignty, and ecological resilience. The ordinance establishes the National Policy on Agroecology and Organic Production (PNAPO) setting guiding principles for integrating agroecological practices across government and society.

The Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (PARLATINO) unanimously approved the  Model Law for the Promotion of Agroecology (Proyecto de Ley Modelo de Promoción de la Agroecología, in Spanish)  during its General Assembly on 5 December 2024, at its headquarters in Panama. This milestone legislation aims to advance resilient and sustainable agricultural practices across the region, offering a robust framework to enhance food security and sustainable development.

The rationale for developing a National Agroecology Strategy (NAES) in Ethiopia (launched in 2026) stems from the urgent need to transform a vulnerable, input-dependent agricultural sector into a more resilient, sustainable and equitable food system. The strategy will address critical national challenges, including pervasive soil degradation, high vulnerability to climate change (droughts and floods), biodiversity loss, and persistent food and nutrition insecurity.

Cuba published its decree on agroecology in 2025 - stating the need to “promote sustainable agriculture based on agroecological principles, facilitating socio-technological innovations based on these principles and processes, in order to increase the efficiency of production systems, promote the use of different renewable energy sources at the local level, reduce imports, and contribute to rural repopulation.

Eastern Africa Community

On 11 July 2025, the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) passed a motion encouraging all East African Community countries (Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo) and partner countries to promote agroecology. The motion calls for regional laws and policies that protect traditional seeds, invest in research and farmer-led practices, and empower women and youth.

The Vaud cantonal Regulation 910.21.1 on agroecology implements provisions of the Vaud Agricultural Law to promote agroecology, biodiversity, soil fertility, and organic farming, aligning with Swiss federal laws and ordinances on agriculture, water, and nature protection.
