Rosa Parks was born in 1913 in Alabama, in the USA. She was an African American woman and a civil rights activist.
WHAT DID SHE DO?
In 1955 Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white man. She was arrested, but her action started the Montgomery Bus Boycott.

At that time, African Americans had fewer rights than white people. Segregation laws forced them to use separate buses, schools, and places.
WHY SHE IS IMPORTANT?
Rosa Parks became a symbol of the fight against racism and segregation. Her action helped change unfair laws in the United States.
WHY I CHOSE ROSA PARKS?
I chose Rosa Parks because she was a brave woman who stood up for her rights. She showed that one person can make a difference.
