- Define the authority, distribution of power, and, often, the territory and citizenship of a nation

The Mechanisms of political participation are stablished in the Article 103 of our Political Constitution.Some of those are:

In 1991, in Colombia, a new political constitution was born after a social political movement called "La Séptima Papeleta". After a constituent assembly in which there were present peasants, afro, indigenous people, students,etc, it started working on July 4th, 1991. Its aims were:
- Sustitute the 1886's Political Constitution.
- Open the goverment for more parties and faces of the society
