2030 Gender Equality
Progress toward achieving Goal 5 "Gender Equality" of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development over the past seven years, since the signing of the UN document, is incompatible with the objectives to be achieved by 2030 and insufficient to allow alignment with the EU average. This is revealed by data contained in the ASviS 2023 Report, which highlights the still-severe gender inequalities in Italy.
Economic and working differences
From an economic and employment perspective, women on average earn less than men, have more uneven careers, and are less represented in senior positions. This is primarily due to the fact that they work more often part-time, are concentrated in lower-paid sectors, and are more impacted by motherhood and caregiving. Men, on the other hand, have more consistent career paths, greater opportunities for advancement, and greater long-term economic stability.
Cultular and religous differences
Cultural and religious differences between men and women often stem from social constructs, traditional gender roles, and doctrinal norms that assign men a public/external sphere and women a domestic/internal sphere. In religions, the "gender gap" shows greater female participation in religious practices, while cultures can impose social hierarchies that influence access to care and rights, often penalizing women.
My opinion
For me, gender equality is better now than before, but it's not yet at the same level. For me, women should have more importance, and I hope that in 2030, gender equality will be better.
