What is Mardi Gras?

Mardi Gras (also known as Shrove Tuesday around the world) comes from French, means 'Fat Tuesday', and is the official Carnival celebration in New Orleans (Louisiana, the USA). It is famous for its costumes, music, parades, and floats. The most traditional colours are purple, green, and gold.
