What is design thinking to me?
Design thinking is a human-centered method of gaining further insight into how to conjure up a useful community based solution to an issue.
Empathize
To immerse yourself in a user's world through observation, engagement, and watching/listening to gain real world knowledge for approaching a solution.
Define
Using context and what you have learned about the user to create a meaningful point-of-view that you can utilize
Ideate
Thinking about the information you have gathered on users and brainstorming ideas based on what you have been thinking about as well to generate a wide range of potential solutions.
Prototype
Creating small, quick, and cheap test projects to gather more in-depth information on users via their interactions with them to gain answers to certain questions.
Test
Soliciting feedback from users on the prototypes you created to gain empathy for the users you're creating the solution for.

You mitigate the risk of wasting a huge amount of time and money and still get real feedback.
You are able to know if your idea works before going live with it.
You find out what people want without having to guess.
