Friendship & relationship

2nd bacc (eoi)

Friendship

Friendship thrives on trust and well-being. Gossip and spreading rumours can break someone’s trust, leaving them hurt. Being envious or leaving someone out on purpose damages bonds. To cheer up and forgive strengthens connections. True friends never hold a grudge—they deserve kindness and understanding.

LOVE

When you're in love, they’re always on your mind. Sometimes, couples drift apart or fall out, but love makes you work your problems out. Even after a row, you might have butterflies in your stomach. Fate brings you together—you’re meant for each other, ready to make a commitment.

AGONY AUNT

How can I help you?

AGONY AUNT

"A problem shared is a problem halved"

Have you ever heard of an Agony Aunt? An Agony Aunt is an advice columnist at a magazine or a newspaper. The image presented was originally of an older woman providing comforting advice and maternal wisdom, hence the name "aunt".

DEAR ABBY: I am a girl who will be 16 in two months, and my mother finally agreed to let me go in cars alone with boys. Well, to make a long story short, this real neat kid who is 18 asked to take me to a drive-in movie last Friday night, and I was on Cloud Nine because I've loved him for a long time. My mother said I had to be in by twelve-twenty-two.

We pulled up in front of our house and we started to talk, and it was two-ten before we noticed what time it was. Boy, did we ever say good-night fast. Abby, I swear to God al we did was talk, but I guess my mother doesn't believe me. Now she's grounded me for a whole month. Do you think this is fair? How can I get my mother to give me another chance?

DEAR GROUNDED: 'In' means in the house, not in front of it. I think the penalty is a little too stiff for the crime, but since you're such a great talker, maybe you can talk your mother down to two weeks.

WHY MEN SHOULDN'T WRITE ADVICE COLUMNS

Dear John, I hope you can help me. The other day, I set off for work, leaving my husband in the house watching TV. My car stalled, and then it broke down about a mile down the road, and I had to walk back to get my husband's help. When I got home, I couldn't believe my eyes. He was in our bedroom with the neighbor's daughter!

I am 32, my husband is 34 and the neighbor's daughter is 19. We have been married for 10 years. When I confronted him, he broke down and admitted they had been having an affair for the past six months. He won't go to counselling, and I'm afraid I am a wreck and need advice urgently. Sincerely, Sheila.

Dear Sheila A car stalling after being driven a short distance can be cause by a variety of faults with the engine. Start by checking that there is no debris in the fuel line. If it is clear, check the vacuum pipes and hoses on the intake manifold and also check all grounding wires. If none of these approaches solves the problem, it could be that the fuel pump itself is faulty, causing low delivery pressure to the injectors. I hope this helps, John
