What is Computer Hardware? Computer hardware is the physical parts of a computer that you can touch, like the CPU, RAM, hard drive, and motherboard. These parts work together to process data, store information, and let us use software. Why It Matters: Understanding hardware helps us choose better devices, fix simple computer problems, and understand how technology around us actually works. Real-World Example: When you play a video game, the CPU processes the game rules, RAM stores data while you’re playing, the GPU handles the graphics, and the storage drive saves your game progress.

CPU – The brain of the computer that carries out instructions and processes data.

RAM – Short‑term memory that stores data and programs the computer is currently using so they run quickly.

Hard Drive / SSD (Storage) – Long‑term memory that saves files, programs, and the operating system even when the power is off.
