Labor movement

Chartism
Chartism was a movement that developed from the People's Charter presented to the British Parliament in 1838. They demanded political rights for workers (such as universal male suffrage). They achieved the following labor improvements: Right of association. Reduction of working hours. Protection of women and children.
Trade Unions
They originated in Great Britain. They are associations of workers from the same sector, who defend their working conditions and wages, using strikes as a method of struggle.

Marxims

  • Marxism is a political ideology created by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels.
  • It denounces the injustices and inequalities of capitalism.
  • Argues that class struggle is the driving force of history.
  • Its goal is to end capitalism, private property, and class society.
  • It proposes a proletarian revolution.
  • It establishes a temporary dictatorship of the proletariat.
  • It advocates for the nationalization of the means of production.
  • It seeks a classless communist society.
  • When this goal is achieved, the state can disappear.
  • It also defends the creation of trade unions and political parties.

Anarchism

  • Anarchism is an ideology championed by Proudhon and Bakunin.
  • It advocates for equality and individual liberty.
  • It rejects all forms of authority.
  • It proposes a worker's and peasant's revolution.
  • It seeks a collectivist and egalitarian society.
  • Society is organized into self-sufficient communes.
  • It does not create political parties.
  • It advocates two paths to achieve its goals:
  • Violent means (terrorism)
  • Peaceful means, through the creation of trade unions.
