It takes place in Pasto, a city in the Nariño department, in southern Colombia, near the border with Ecuado
When does it take place?
Every year from January 2 to January 7.
How long does it last? It lasts 6 days.

How many people normally attend?
Around 1 million people attend each year, including locals, tourists from Colombia, and international visitors.
What are the main events you can see?
Parades with giant, colorful floats Day of the Blacks (January 5): people paint their faces black Day of the Whites (January 6): people cover each other with white powder Music and dancing in the streets Artistic performances and traditional costumes
There is no bonfire tradition, and the focus is more on parades, music, and street celebration than fireworks or beauty queens.
What is the traditional food & drink?
cuy-(guinea pig – very traditional in the region) Empanadas Tamales Hornado (roast pork)
Canelazo (hot drink with cinnamon and aguardiente)
Chicha (fermented corn drink)
what i will like to see
What would I like to see if I had the chance to go?
I’d love to see the main parade on the Day of the Whites, especially the huge artistic floats—they’re handmade and incredibly detailed. Also, watching everyone celebrate together in the streets looks like pure
