A geyser is a natural source of hot water that erupts from the ground from time to time. It happens when underground water is heated by very hot rocks near magma. The water becomes extremely hot and pressure builds up until it finally explodes out as steam and boiling water. Geysers are not very common and usually appear in places with volcanic activity
