Who is he?

Julius Robert Oppenheimer, usually called Robert Oppenheimer or J. Robert Oppenheimer, was an American physicist, born on April 22, 1904 in New York and died on February 18, 1967 in Princeton.

What did he do?

Oppenheimer was a theoretical physicist and the top scientist in charge of developing the atomic bomb as part of the Manhattan Project, which was a World War II-era government project to develop a nuclear weapon before the Germans. He was responsible for the team that researched and designed the bomb.14 juil. 2023

why is famous?

Robert Oppenheimer will forever be known as the “father of the atomic bomb.” At Los Alamos, though, he was much more. Brilliant and complicated, J. Robert Oppenheimer was instrumental to the success of the Manhattan Project — the top-secret effort to build an atomic bomb to help bring an end to World War II.
