  • Polish Jewry was threatend durimg the end of the 18th century.
  • This happened through a series of diplomatic moves between poland, Russian, Prussia, and Austria.
  • Russsia was in crontol of vast areas of Poland meaning many polish jewas found themselves under russian rule.
  • When the Crusaders moved through Europe in the 13th century Jewish refuges sought saftey in Poland.
  • The 1264 Statue Kalisz created legal protections for jews.
  • With these protections Jewish communitys in poland were thriving
  • 80 percent of all jews lived in poland
  • Several significant jewish religous movements were developing.
  • Jews live in both shtetls and big cities.
  • Some are very religous and some are infulenced by mordern ideas.
  • By the 1920s Jews made about a quater and a half of the population in larger cities
  • Those cities became the cultural, religous, and intellectual centers of world Jewry.

  • Many choose to leave the country after birth.
  • Holocaust survivors in Poland did their best to make due wth what little was left of their community.
  • Right after the war Polish Jewish community organizations primarily centered around immediate recovry matters.
  • Jews noe mix age-old tradidtions with the modern world and belifs
  • there are only about 10,000 Polish Jews.
  • Today Jewish people live all around the World
  • They have lots of museums and historical sites to honor these people
  • One of these museums is here in Tulsa!
  • Today there are many Jewish organizations
  • This includes an organization comprising person orphend in the Holocaust raised by non Jews.
  • Many didn't discover their origin until late in life.
