NeuroBatch

NeuroBatch Analysis is an add-on for automatically processing large numbers of EEG files and generating NeuroGuide Group Analysis (*.NGG) files needed for group-level comparisons. It produces descriptive group statistics (means and standard deviations) and supports independent t-tests between groups (without assuming equal variance or equal sample sizes), and the resulting *.NGG files are then used in NeuroStat for group analyses.

NeuroGuide Collection Module

The NeuroGuide Collection Module (NC) is the add-on that enables EEG acquisition from specific supported amplifier models and is required for acquisition workflows, including neurofeedback training modes such as NF1, NF2, NF3, swNF, and Surf. It is licensed per amplifier type (listed hardware), costs $600 for each amplifier type, and must be activated as an add-on to NeuroGuide or an existing NeuroGuide Acquisition (NGA) license rather than as a standalone product.

Dynamic Bi-Spectral Analyses

Dynamic Bi-Spectral Analyses in NeuroGuide are cross-frequency tools that use the Hilbert transform to derive instantaneous “envelopes” of EEG metrics (such as absolute power/amplitude, coherence, phase differences, amplitude asymmetry, and phase reset) and then apply an FFT to analyze the envelope spectrum from 0.032 to 5 Hz to capture infra-low oscillatory dynamics while avoiding common DC-amplifier artifacts. This add-on is accessed via View > Dynamic Bi-Spectral Analysis and includes bi-spectra for multiple instantaneous metrics plus cross-frequency measures such as power correlation, phase shift duration, and phase lock duration in the 0.032–5 Hz range.

Discriminant Functions

Discriminant Functions are pattern-recognition tools that output a probability that an EEG matches patterns reported for mild traumatic brain injury (including Department of Defense and University of Maryland–published functions) and for learning disability. They must be run only on EEG recorded with a linked-ears reference, follow the stated age and population constraints (LD only for individuals with learning-disability history; mTBI only for individuals with mild-TBI history), and are intended to support hypothesis testing and statistical evaluation rather than diagnosis, with additional restrictions on incompatible amplifier/headset systems and use by qualified individuals.

LORETA Source Correlation

With LORETA Source Correlation, NeuroGuide computes the Pearson correlation coefficient (−1 to +1) between the average current sources of a selected 3D region of interest and the remaining 2,394 LORETA gray-matter voxels over the chosen EEG time span, then displays the resulting correlation map in the LORETA Viewer. The region of interest can be defined by anatomical name or by Brodmann area, and the ROI’s correlation to itself is shown as 0 in the viewer.

LORETA Phase Reset

LORETA Phase Reset computes phase shift duration and phase lock duration using cross-spectral analysis of Hilbert-transformed current source signals from the center voxels of 44 Brodmann areas per hemisphere across eight frequency bands (delta through gamma/hi-beta). It is a separately licensed add-on that provides normative database Z-scores for these phase-alignment duration measures.

LORETA Effective Connectivity

LORETA Effective Connectivity generates LORETA Phase Slope Index outputs to estimate directional interactions between cortical sources, producing both bitmap maps and tab-delimited text files. The add-on provides results in raw values and Z-scores for normative comparison.

BrainSurfer Network Viewer

BrainSurfer Network Viewer provides 3D neuroimaging-style visualization of functional brain networks using sLORETA, showing Z-scores for Brodmann areas and network targets. It displays Z-scored nodes and the connections between nodes derived from sLORETA coherence and sLORETA phase-difference measures.

Brain Performance Index

The Brain Performance Index (BPI) is an EEG-based estimate of the efficiency of neural resource allocation intended to complement neuropsychological evaluations, especially when conventional testing is difficult or when rapid retesting is needed. It is intended only for use with individuals between 5 and 18 years old and is not designed to replace a neuropsychological test.

Connectivity Suite

The Connectivity Suite provides a consolidated cortical connectivity display (including 171 electrode combinations) and tools to analyze coupling metrics such as coherence, phase differences, correlation, cross-spectrum/co-spectrum/quad-spectrum, bi-spectrum, and phase reset across frequencies. It also supports evaluation of volume conduction and zero-phase-lag effects to better interpret true interregional coupling, and it describes an upcoming Brain Synchrony Map that combines phase shift duration, phase lock duration, coherence, and phase differences.

Surface 1 to 19 Channel Z Score Neurofeedback

Surface 1 to 19 Channel Z Score Neurofeedback provides real-time Z-scores for surface EEG using average reference, linked ears, and Laplacian, including live metrics such as coherence, phase difference, power, amplitude asymmetry, phase shift, and phase lock duration. It includes a symptom checklist to help structure protocol design, can incorporate LORETA Z-scores from QEEG analysis to refine targets, and requires the NeuroGuide Collection Module (with options to purchase as an add-on or as a standalone program for multi-site use).

The Symptom Checklist (SCL)

The Symptom Checklist (SCL) is designed to help relate reported symptoms to brain function by leveraging spatial overlap findings from functional and clinical studies (fMRI, PET, EEG/MEG) and clinical neurological evidence from strokes, tumors, and lesions. It lets you set a Z-score cutoff, sort results by Z-score or name, and export or print the output as a tab-delimited text file.

Surface Effective Connectivity

Surface Effective Connectivity generates Surface Phase Slope Index outputs to estimate directional interactions between scalp EEG channels, producing both bitmap maps and tab-delimited text files. The add-on provides results in raw values and Z-scores for normative comparison.

LORETA Coherence and Phase Differences

LORETA Coherence and Phase Differences computes source-level coherence and phase relationships using cross-spectral analysis of Hilbert-transformed current source signals from the center voxels of 44 Brodmann areas in each hemisphere across eight frequency bands. It provides measures of synchronization and phase lead/lag between estimated cortical sources to support source-space connectivity research.

NeuroNavigator

NeuroNavigator is a modern swLORETA-based 3D neuroimaging add-on for NeuroGuide that computes an inverse solution using a real MRI with about 12,270 voxels and the Boundary Element Method (BEM) to improve source localization, including deeper sources, compared with the older 2,394-voxel Key Institute LORETA viewer. The base NeuroNavigator product provides raw current source density (CSD) values and must be purchased first before adding optional modules such as CSD Z-score norms, functional connectivity (coherence/phase), effective connectivity (phase slope index), and other add-on options.

Score Neurofeedback

swLORETA Z Score Neurofeedback provides live Z-score feedback of swLORETA activity in Brodmann areas and network targets such as hubs, modules, and the default mode network, mapped to 3D locations registered to a reference MRI, and it adds live swLORETA coherence and phase-difference metrics from 88 Brodmann areas plus subcortical and cerebellar ROIs (thalamus, vermis, red nucleus, cerebellum). It also describes a protocol approach that combines a symptom checklist with swLORETA Z-scores from QEEG analysis to help relate reported symptoms to functional specialization, and it requires the NeuroGuide Collection Module. 3-D sLORETA Z Score Neurofeedback provides live Z-score feedback of sLORETA activity in Brodmann areas and network targets such as hubs, modules, and the default mode network, mapped to 3D locations registered to a reference MRI. It also includes live sLORETA coherence and phase-difference metrics across 88 Brodmann areas for source-space connectivity training.

LORETA Current Density Normative Database

The LORETA Current Density Normative Database in NeuroGuide computes source current density across 2,394 gray-matter voxels and compares those values to age-based normative reference data (birth–82 years) to generate voxel-level Z-scores. It also supports exporting source estimates in the time domain so specific EEG events can be examined over time in addition to frequency-domain source localization.

LORETA Cross-Frequency Coherence

LORETA Cross-Frequency Coherence computes amplitude-independent coupling (coherence) between different frequency bands and the center voxels of 88 Brodmann areas, for example delta–beta or theta–alpha-2 or theta–high beta (gamma). It quantifies this cross-frequency coupling and compares it to a normative database using Z-scores to support research linking symptoms to cortical dysregulation patterns.

NeuroStat

NeuroStat is an EEG statistics program for test–retest and group analyses that supports individual comparisons using independent t-tests, paired t-tests, repeated-measures ANOVA, and absolute/percent differences for both surface EEG and LORETA. For certain group comparative analyses, it relies on NeuroBatch to first generate NeuroGuide Group Analysis (*.NGG) files, which NeuroStat then uses to compute descriptive statistics (means and standard deviations) and independent group t-tests without assuming equal variance or equal sample sizes.

swBrainSurfer

swBrainSurfer is a brain-computer-interface that uses a real MRI with 12,270 voxels to provide real-time swLORETA neuroimaging of Brodmann areas and functional brain networks. It delivers live Z-scores for nodes and connections based on swLORETA connectivity measures including coherence, lagged coherence, phase differences, and swLORETA phase slope index for information flow.

BrainSurfer

BrainSurfer is a brain-computer-interface style feedback display that uses a 3D neuroimage of the brain as the live visualization during training. It lets you choose live Z-score targets for network nodes and the connections between nodes using sLORETA coherence, sLORETA phase differences, and optionally sLORETA phase shift and phase lock measures.
