When I got older, my mates became another big team for me. You know how we talked before about everyone wanting to be the same, even if they weren't? That is SO how I felt. I didn't want to get any brownie bonus points because I was missing a leg - I wanted to run and play and muck about with everyone else. I just wanted to get involved. And to everyone who helped me do that? Teamwork Gold.
And now, phew! From there, my team just gets bigger and bigger! I've had different coaches over the years (because sometimes teams grow and change), who have all been amazing and believed in me. I still work with my long-term coach, but now I also have someone to help me with the day-to-day training as we build towards Paris 2024. I even have people who give me treatment before AND after I train. Dietitians, sports massage therapists, physiotherapists - you name it. (Then there's my Xbox, which is a key team player when it comes to helping me chill out after a tough morning on the track!) Shh, don't tell my mum!

I can't run faster until there is someone next to me, so my teammates on the track help me to go, go, GO! The entire Paralympic team support each other and cheer each other on. And you know what? Opponents are part of teamwork in a way, too - we respect each other and believe in each other, even if we want to WIN. You can see us hugging after a race. It's not fake, it is respect. Then I have the marvellous magical team who created my running blade. It's built out of a super clever material called carbon fibre which is designed to be strong AND flexible at the same time. So when my foot hits the ground, my blade bends like a spring and then shoots me forward - basically copying what the muscles in my other leg do. In case this sounds like cheating, heads up - it's not nearly as efficient as my other leg’s muscles, but it's still pretty amazing!
PLUS, YOU CAN’T WIN A RACE IF YOU’VE GOT NOONE TO RACE WITH.
