Kingsley Junior High
This is the middle school where I have my clinicals at but it also holds many young students getting ready for their future.
St John Paul Catholic Newman Center
Churches in communities have provided many opportunities to those who need a sign. Anyone in the community can use the resources they have as this is a church many college students attend. Schools can partener with this church to bring food drives, clothes drives, and volunteer to help others. Having a resource like this in the community is very valuable and shows students how to help those in need.
ISU Recreation Center
This counceling center gives a lot of support to the community and allows anyone to come in for help. Genesis helps people with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and PTSD, which gives their clients a satisfying experience. This counseling center also takes many forms of insurance, which allows clients to be covered without fear of thinking they cant afford it.
Uptown Normal Theater
Uptown has many great places for students to go, especially the old theater that brings joy to others. Schools can host movie nights for their students as an end of the year reward or as a field trip for students to come watch a movie. This can be a place for advocacy where college students can volunteer to host a workshop for kids interested in theater, for them to express their creativity. Like the rec center, this can be a place for students to grow a community with others in the school with different backgrounds.
Civic Engagement Center
The ISU civic is a great place for young students to learn about how they can improve their community. The department hosts many great events that invite the community to come in and learn about inclusivity. This is a great place for advocacy, as it provides students and community members with the tools, space, and structure to take action on real issues.
ISU Billiards Bowling Center
The ISU Billiards Bowling Center is a great place for students and families to come and hang out at a low cost. Having an area like this allows students to have fun with friends, along with a gaming center for playing on computers or gaming consoles. Schools can host a game night here which allows them to use campus resources and build a relationship with the community.
Milner Library
Milner Library is home to many open resources for anyone on campus, as well as for local schools. Schools can partner with Milner for students who are doing research for their work and have access to all six floors. This can be a place for advocacy as college students can hold workshops or monthly book club meetings.
Bone Student Center
The Bone Student Center is a great place for schools to come and use the area for a science fair or introduce a career fair for students to think about their future and what they would want to do for a career. Schools can visit the Bone for events, leadership programs, or academic competitions
Normal Public Library
The Normal Public Library would be a place for advocacy, as there are many workshops and activities for younger students. The library holds a lot of resources for anyone to come and use as the whole community is welcome to come explore.
Childrens Discovery Museum
The Discovery Museum supports the community and middle school students by providing interactive learning experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity, and community connection. This also encourages community involvement through interactive exhibits and partnerships with local organizations.
