BARBASTRO2nd February

a bit of history

Barbastro continues the tradition of celebrating La Candelera Fair on February 2, bringing together nearly three hundred stalls selling agri-food products, plants, clothing and accessories, decorative items… and attracting thousands of people from across the region and surroundings.

It has been celebrated since the year 1513, when Germana de Foix, the second wife of Ferdinand the Catholic, granted the city the privilege of holding this fair, establishing that:

  • The fair is located in the center of the city.
  • Candles are lit and masks appear.
  • Boys and girls go out into the streets celebrating the festival granted by their teachers.
  • Jugglers, musicians, and artisans come from outside to celebrate this fair.
  • Costumes are purchased for the upcoming carnival.

Tell a friend how to get to the fair.

This year, you have decided to go to the fair all together, but you don’t want to spend much money. So, this is your budget.Let’s see if you can find a bargain. You must buy something at every stall. Good luck!
