the start

They rebelled because they paid many taxes and they didn't have money, but the king and the nobles have so much money.

The French Revolution started in 1789 and finished in 1799. French revolution started when the people of Paris rebelled against the king (Luis XVI.) and the nobles.

THE BASTILLE

THE STORMING OF THE BASTILLE: 14th July same year, the people went to the prision to get weapons to defend themselves against the soldiers of the king. They gathered together so that the king would not have so much power.

  • Because of that, in Franche they celebrate the Bastille day (14th July) like a national holiday.
  • Although i was a historuical place, inside the prision they were only 7 prisioners

The... end?

the reign of terror

A new start

Without a king, the violence increased between 1793 and 1794. It was led by Robespierre, and anyone who opposed him was sent to the gillotine.

After the storming of the Bastille, the Declaration of the Rights of the Man and of the Citizen was declared, giving everyone the same rights. On January 21st, 1793, Louis XVI was executed, leaving France without a king for a while.

Napoleon Bonaparte

The end of Louis XVI

He was a military, and he ascended to emperor. Napoleon expanded ideas from the revolution, but he reigned very authoritatively and caused many wars.
