Recap : double comparatives

  • Nowadays, kangaroos are becoming pests : there are more and more of them, that is why they are hunted for their meat and skins.
  • On the contrary, there are fewer and fewer koalas because of deforestation.
  • The kookabura gets louder and louder !

Script: Ken: Hi again! Do you like water sports? We are very fond of them here in Australia. I was born near Brisbane, on the Sunshine Coast, in the east of Australia, but further south compared to where I live now. We used to live on an island. That’s where I learnt to swim, to surf, to snorkel and to dive. In fact, by the age of 5, I was already a pretty good swimmer and surfer. As the climate in Brisbane is tropical, I used to go to the beach every day, all year round, and I used to surf and go fishing with my father, which was great fun. I had a great life and I didn’t use to go to school then! * Now I live in Townsville. We moved here ten years ago, when I started school. We have all sorts of water sports: water-skiing, wake- boarding, sailing, jet skiing, fishing, etc, but we can’t really surf, because there aren’t enough waves. In Brisbane, I used to sail every day and now I still manage to sail almost every week. I go scuba diving every weekend – it’s part of my Saturday job, and once or twice a month my parents sail to the Great Barrier Reef to study marine life and I sometimes join in. It’s the most beautiful spot on earth! So my life is very exciting!
