SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS EXPERIENCE PARNERSHIP

SEEP is student run because students hold knowledge that cannot be captured by surveys or metrics. It comes from being taught, assessed and shaped by economics every day. SEEP exists to bring that knowledge into the centre of the School of Economics where decisions are made. Working in partnership with staff, SEEP helps shape teaching, curriculum and assessment with care and purpose. Change is not performative or rushed. It grows through trust, shared responsibility and sustained dialogue. This is students helping to shape the future of economics education.

SAGE focuses on student engagement, belonging and support in the School of Economics. It is where students bring insight into how inclusive, visible and accessible the School feels in practice, not just in policy.

CARE focuses on academic quality in the School of Economics. It is where students and staff review assessment, feedback and teaching standards, using evidence and experience to improve how learning works across the degree.

EPIC is where students are involved before teaching and curriculum decisions are final. It focuses on how economics is taught, how it changes over time and how student insight shapes direction rather than reacts to outcomes.

EPIC brings students into School-level discussions about long-term learning strategy.

Most teaching and curriculum decisions are made long before students see the outcome. EPIC works at that earlier stage. It gives students a role in shaping priorities, questioning assumptions and influencing how teaching develops over time. This is where experience is used to guide direction, not just to comment after change has already happened.

From feedback to influence

SEEP FORWARD

We developed the EPIC model as a new way of working with student voice. Instead of relying on traditional feedback structures, EPIC showed how students could be involved earlier, more consistently and more meaningfully in decision-making. This approach proved effective and was taken up beyond the School of Economics, with EPIC becoming the gold standard across UEA for embedding student partnership into how teaching and learning are shaped. SEEP Forward builds on that success. It focuses on how student voice can be strengthened further by connecting committees and processes, and by ensuring influence is sustained over time rather than tied to individual forums or moments.

Supporting transitions through economics

ECO BRIDGE

ECO Bridge was the first SEEP resource. It was created to support the moments where economics students are most likely to feel uncertain, disconnected, or unsure of what comes next. Rather than focusing on a single stage, ECO Bridge helps students navigate transition points across the degree by making expectations clearer and support easier to find.ECO Bridge focuses on:

  • moving into university-level economics
  • developing confidence and independence in study
  • connecting learning to future pathways

CARE brings students into School-level processes that review assessment design, feedback quality and consistency in teaching across modules and years.

Academic quality is shaped by repeated decisions about assessment, feedback and teaching design. CARE focuses on those patterns rather than isolated complaints. By bringing student experience into formal review and evaluation processes, CARE helps the School identify where standards are slipping, where practice is inconsistent and where change is needed to support meaningful learning across the degree.

Four flexible routes. One goal: smarter studying.

ECO STUDY GUIDE

SEEP recognises that students learn in different ways, and that what works for you can change from week to week. This study guide is built around that idea. It is not one-size-fits-all. Instead, it gives you flexible routes into the same core goal: understanding economics more confidently and effectively. You might begin with a guided chatbot, explore an interactive tool, or turn to a more traditional resource when you want clarity or reassurance. You can move between them as you need. There is no “right” order. Our ECO Study Guide is designed to support how you actually study, not how you are expected to.Each section offers a different way in:

  • Pathfinder: A guided, step-by-step chatbot to help you get started or find direction.
  • StudyBuddy: A flexible AI study partner you can ask questions, test ideas, or explore topics with.
  • Companion: A structured resource bank for reading, revisiting concepts, and checking understanding.
  • SkillLab: An interactive toolkit with hands-on activities to build practical study skills.
Use one, use all, or switch between them as you go. The point is not to follow a fixed path, but to choose the support that fits how you learn, when you need it.

SAGE brings students into School-level conversations about belonging, inclusion, confidence and access to support.

Engagement is shaped by everyday interactions, visibility and follow-through. SAGE uses student experience to surface where students feel excluded, overlooked or disconnected, and to inform changes that strengthen trust, belonging and participation across the School. It ensures engagement is treated as part of academic life, not an add-on.
