  • A persistent ache in the lower back
  • Periods of intense pain in the back or side of the abdomen
  • Needing to urinate more often than normal

  • A sharp pain in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen
  • May experience right shoulder tip pain
  • The pain is worse when breathing deeply and on palpation of the right upper quadrant
  • Abdominal pain that is cramping in nature
  • Faeculant vomiting
  • Abdominal distension
  • Absence of passing flatus/wind
  • ‘Currant jelly stool’ – blood and mucus
  • Pain in the lower back, pelvic area or back
  • Nausea
  • Syncope or orthostatic hypotension
  • Missed last menstrual period
  • Constant pain in the epigastrium and left upper quadrant of the abdomen
  • Abdominal tenderness
