When we suspect of a security incident (including a device loss or theft) we should report it to Canon as soon as possible. In case the incident is a theft, we should report it to the police too. Canon professionals will guide us throguh the process if required.

WHAT IS MULTI-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION (MFA)?
With MFA, when you sign in on a device or app you enter your username and password as usual, and then you get prompted to enter your second factor to verify your identity. An example of MFA is the SMS or notification sent to your phone by Microsoft, requesting authorisation when connecting to Canon’s VPN:
WHAT IS MULTI-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION (MFA)?
The use of the Microsoft Authenticator app is recommended. If you use this authentication method, when you want to connect to your VPN, you will only need to enter your password as usual, open the Microsoft Authenticator app and write the one-time password code (6 digits). Hardware tokens are an excellent security method too. [TO DISCUSS WITH ZJEF]
WHAT IF I RECEIVE AN AUTHENTICATION CODE THAT I HAVEN'T REQUESTED?
If this happens, there may be a malicious actor trying to access your account. We recommend that you change your password immediately and don't share this code with anyone. If this happens more than once, please report it using the reporting tool available on MIRU. ASK MO
USE OF MFA ON OUR ACCOUNTS
Getting into the habit of setting up MFA security for all our accounts is not only convenient in case we encounter any problems with our password. It will also make it more difficult for attackers to access our data or steal our accounts. If a malicious actor tries to access our account from an unknown device, they would be asked to enter the MFA code before.

When we suspect of a security incident (including a device loss or theft) we should report it to Canon as soon as possible. In case the incident is a theft, we should report it to the police too. Canon professionals will guide us throguh the process if required.

WHAT IS MULTI-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION (MFA)?
With MFA, when you sign in on a device or app you enter your username and password as usual, and then you get prompted to enter your second factor to verify your identity. An example of MFA is the SMS or notification sent to your phone by Microsoft, requesting authorisation when connecting to Canon’s VPN:

The use of the Microsoft Authenticator app is recommended. If you use this authentication method, when you want to connect to your VPN, you will only need to enter your password as usual, open the Microsoft Authenticator app and write the one-time password code (6 digits). Getting into the habit of setting up MFA security for all our accounts is not only convenient in case we encounter any problems with our password. It will also make it more difficult for attackers to access our data or steal our accounts. If a malicious actor tries to access our account from an unknown device, they would be asked to enter the MFA code before.

What should I do with it?
Even if Canon has security measures in place to analyse USB flash drives when plugged in, this may be dangerous for our corporate and personal devices.
Leave it there, the owner may come and take it.
Take it to the reception or lost objects department.
