In affirmative sentences it is used as something it is important to do or necessary. EX: I HAVE TO CLEAN MY ROOM

Don’t have to is used to say that something is not necessary.It means that you can do it, but it is optional. Examples: You don’t have to wear a uniform at this school. You don’t have to bring your book today.
