Warlimpirrnga Tjapaltjarri (né à la fin des années 1950) est un artiste aborigène australien . Il est l'un des artistes indigènes les plus connus d'Australie centrale.

L'Australie est un État situé en Océanie, qui comprend l'Australie proprement dite, la Tasmanie et plusieurs îles.

L'art aborigène
Ces oeuvres racontent des légendes anciennes qui appartiennent à ce que les Aborigènes appellent "le temps du rêve", une époque ancestrale, au cours de laquelle le monde a été créé, par des êtres spirituels. Les traces de cette création sont encore visibles dans la topographie, car leur ouvrage terminé, les esprits se sont incarnés dans la terre, prenant la forme d'une montagne, d'une rivière...
On appelle "Aborigènes" les premiers habitants d'un pays, avant que celui-ci ne soit colonisé par un autre peuple. Le serpent est un animal mythique pour les Aborigènes d'Australie. Il évoque Ngalyod, le Serpent arc-en-ciel, dieu protecteur, préservant l'eau, source de vie, face au soleil qui l'assèche. Au quotidien, la présence d'un serpent est l'annonce d'un point d'eau. Pour un nomade évoluant dans l'aride bush australien, le symbole est donc éminemment positif.
