These brines often contain high concentrations of lithium, silica, zinc, manganese, and other elements. The extraction process, known as direct lithium extraction (DLE) for lithium, typically involves using selective adsorbents, ion-exchange resins, or solvents to pull the target mineral out of the brine after the heat has been used for power generation.
This creates a secondary revenue stream and moves towards a more circular economy.
