Nouveau plan de Lille monumental industriel et commercial

Ce plan de Lille témoigne d'une tradition cartographique illustrative issue des plans panoramiques qui se diffusent à partir de la fin du 19e siècle, en lien avec l’essor de la photographie aérienne. Ces plans étaient publiés par l’Administration des plans monumentaux de France. La précision du tracé des bâtiments industriels est exceptionnelle. 64 entreprises sont ici représentées et nommées. L’industrie et le commerce étaient des thèmes valorisés dans l’image des villes (au même titre que le patrimoine monumental), y compris à destination des touristes.

Comptes des ventes des trois tailles du bois de Nieppe

La forêt de Nieppe est l’un des seuls espaces encore boisés au 14e siècle en Flandre. Les défrichements précoces des territoires ont eu raison des différents espaces forestiers. Réserve seigneuriale, son exploitation est, dès cette époque, raisonnée. Le compte, incomplet, des tailles d’arbres et de bois, des années 1355-1357, ne concerne que le bois d’aval, c’est-à-dire une partie seulement de la forêt. Il détaille le déroulement de l’opération. En hiver 1355, le bois a été coupé, vendu en 1356, et payé en 2 fois en 1357 (à Pâques et à la Saint-Jean en juin). Les acheteurs sont présentés par communes de résidence (essentiellement situées en Flandre intérieure). Les plus lointains acheteurs viennent de Dunkerque, à environ 60 kilomètres de la forêt de Nieppe. Dans ce cahier de parchemin, le greffier a pris le temps d’enjoliver les majuscules de petits visages souriants.
