INCONNUE : C’est une lettre qui désigne un nombre inconnu : → Par exemple x RESOUDRE UNE EQUATION : C’est chercher et trouver le nombre inconnu. SOLUTION : C’est la valeur de l’inconnue : → Par exemple x=0,625 Vérification : Par exemple 10 x 0,625 - 2 = 2 x 0,625 + 3, donc 0,625 est bien solution.

Définition d'une équation Une équation est une égalité qui relie deux expressions, généralement séparées par le signe égal (=). Elle contient une ou plusieurs variables (ou inconnues), qui sont des lettres représentant des valeurs inconnues. Par exemple, dans l'équation
