Smart Forest City, la ciudad forestal inteligente de Cancún
Stefano Boeri Architetti es el estudio de arquitectura biofílica detrás del proyecto Smart Forest City, la primera ciudad forestal e inteligente que sería integrada en la zona de Cancún (México). La ciudad es concebida como una economía plenamente circular, autosuficiente en alimentos y energía, rodeada por un anillo de paneles solares y de campos agrícolas que serán regados por las propias aguas residuales de la ciudad.
El proyecto abarca de 557 hectáreas, con capacidad de acoger a unos 130.000 habitantes. Unas 400 hectáreas serán espacios verdes con 7.500.000 plantas (de 400 especies diferentes elegidas cuidadosamente por Laura Gatti, botánica y paisajista) de las cuales 260.000 serán árboles.
En cuanto a la movilidad, vital en una zona turística como Cancún, se propone un sistema de transporte articulado que permita a los residentes y visitantes dejar sus vehículos en las afueras de la ciudad y utilizar únicamente sistemas de movilidad eléctrica y semiautomática, consiguiendo reducir las emisiones dentro de la ciudad casi a cero.
El agua se considera un elemento clave del proyecto. Las aguas residuales producidas en la ciudad serán recicladas y utilizadas para el riego y la agricultura. En la entrada existirá un gran embalse con una torre de desalinización, desde donde el agua será distribuida por diferentes canales a la urbe y, en caso de necesitarlo, al cinturón de campos agrícolas.
